A rider and horse enthusiast for over 25 years and writer for the equine industry since 1999, Barbara brings extensive experience as an award winning writer and photographer. The course material for "Equine Journalism" will include practical advice on everything from querying magazines to bundling articles with high-quality photographs in a neat package that will have editors coming back for more.
Topics for "Equine Journalism" will include "Getting Your Foot in the Door," "Writing Styles for Various Markets," "Selling Like a Professional," and "Copyright Laws and Strategies." In addition, a portion of the course will be devoted to photography techniques required for publication.
For "Marketing and Communication in the Equine Industry," Barbara will draw on her experience and knowledge as both a freelance writer and a business communications specialist to bring students best practices from the world of marketing and public relations. By covering everything from "Basic English Mechanics" to "Perception and Persuasion," Barbara will help equine industry members develop and deliver effective communications strategies.
